Last week was a really great one!

We concluded Unit 1 of Treasures with our end of unit theme test.  Unit 2 will begin on Monday with the reading selection, My Brother Martin: A Sister Remembers Growing Up with the Rev. Dr. Martin by Christine King Farris.  Renowned educator Christine King Farris, older sister of the late Dr. King, tells the inspirational story of how one boyhood experience inspired a movement. A poignant look at how a single event can change the course of history and a reminder that if you believe hard enough, dreams can become reality.

In math we are continuing to work on obtaining automaticity with multiplication facts. Please make sure your child is practicing these facts if they have yet to obtain automaticity. Oral repetition, flash cards, and websites can be used to improve your child’s skill level.

Your child should also be hard at work on their Region Brochure Project.  The project is due on October 14th.

As always feel free to reach out to us should you have any questions or concerns.

Welcome to our 4th Grade Blog

We can’t believe that almost 6 weeks have passed since school began.  We are off to a great start!  We are so pleased with how the school year is progressing.

We’ve covered number sense and geometry in math.

We’re wrapping up our unit on the four regions of California.

We’re uncovering the layers of the earth in science.

And moving into Unit 2 of Treasures, where we will learn about how people make a difference in their communities. You may preview the unit’s selections in a slideshow at the following link: Treasures Unit 2 - Making A Difference

We want to make sure that parents are informed of the curriculum and events taking place in fourth grade at Community Magnet.  Our blog is an ongoing work in progress.  So be sure to check back often for updates.
